05 Aug JIMMY’S: RESTYLING WEB STORE
We do not only create new shops; we often work on existing web stores as well. In July, we launched the new web store for JIMMY’s Popcorn: a fully upgraded shop with a great new look.
The current JIMMY’s started in Oud-Beijerland in 1992 with the production of popcorn. Their aim was to produce a quality brand popcorn, especially for movie lovers. Producing, importing and exporting of popcorn and other food items like nachos and candy is in their genes; offering quality has always been their main focus. They have invested in the market, in machinery and product innovation. The company has one of the most modern production lines for ready-to-eat popcorn.
JIMMY’s has also been the exclusive importer of Gold Medal in the Benelux for over thirty years now. They provide all their machines from stock and even have their own technical service support.
The web store
JIMMY’s already had a Magento web store on popcorn.nl. Some time ago, we helped them with the installation and configuration of
MCONNECT (our extension that connects Magento to ERP system Dynamics NAV) on that environment. We were therefore already familiar with the customer and their online store. There is also a order environment for business customers to quickly place orders through a personal order list. This was made possible through the use of our Project List extension. Over time, JIMMY’s indicated a wish for an improved structure and more modern design for their web store and the order environment, and asked us to develop this for them.
We first upgraded the Magento store to the latest version and checked all the functionalities and extensions to make sure everything continued to function in the upgraded environment.
We then applied a new, responsive Magento theme with a fresh and modern design to provide a good basis for JIMMY’s great product and marketing images: large, characteristic slider images on the homepage, colorful banners and beautiful product photos.
The structure of the site – including the navigation and various content blocks – have also been restyled to enhance user friendliness. Customers can now more easily find what they’re looking for, and have quick access to product and order information. The store is also fully responsive for comfortable use on mobile devices.
JIMMY’s uses ERP system Dynamics NAV. For efficiency, they use an extension that connects Dynamics NAV to Magento: MCONNECT.
This enables a full synchronisation of products, prices, inventory, orders, invoices and customer data, so that the web store always provides correct data and orders are automatically imported into the ERP system. In this project, we have of course also updated this extension and monitored its functionality in the new environment.
After the launch of JIMMY’s new web store, we have intensively tested it and made some minor changes; now that the store is running smoothly, we will continue to actively advice JIMMY’s and support them on further improvements and additions to their store.
