We know Hoogvliet as a supermarket, with 67 stores in the west and center of the Netherlands. In addition to that is Hoogvliet the only supermarket that can call itself a bakery; they bake all their bread themselves, according to their own recipe and in the traditional way.
You can also go there for almost all kinds of cakes, which you can order online. This is where the collaboration with Ecomwise begins: Hoogvliet wants a new, modern webstore for selling all their pastries.
Hoogvliet’s pastry shop no longer met the standard of today’s modern web; it was not responsive, used an outdated design and ran on a platform not optimized for e-commerce. The switch to Magento 2 was therefore obvious, as well as a renewed design optimized for mobile display.
Others points of improvement were the search function, the checkout process, and a good layout for SEO. Additionally, the implementation of a nice and new function: the photo cake.
After determining the specifications and going through the customer’s buying process, we started designing the homepage based on the existing house style. A fresh, new design should make the webstore attractive again, and the mobile-first approach ensures that the website is displayed flawlessly on mobile devices.
