A new Shopware webshop that works with its own ERP

The challenge

Snelpas’ webshop was running on an outdated system that was deeply intertwined with the company’s custom ERP system. That’s the system in which Snelpas manages customers, products, and orders, among other things. Snelpas wanted a new webshop system, but the company’s ERP system had to remain in place. Our question was clear: build a new webshop that connects to that ERP system.

Our solution

We presented Shopware 6, with a custom integration to our own ERP. Together with Snelpas, we designed how the data flows between the two systems. The approach in short:

• Shopware 6 replaces the outdated webshop system.
• A custom integration connects Shopware with Snelpas’ own ERP system.
• Together with Snelpas, we determined which data should flow between the systems.
• This data synchronizes in two directions:
  • customer data
  • Product data
  • orders
  • offers
• The Shopware environment gives the Snelpas team the freedom to manage content themselves and to customize the webshop in many ways.
  
  

The result

Snelpas now has a new webshop that is well-integrated with their own ERP system. As a result, they now have:

• A modern webshop environment that automatically synchronizes with the ERP environment.
• The platform meets the requirements of Snelpas.
• There is room to expand the webshop later.
• Snelpas manages the content and much of the webshop itself.
• The webshop is now available in three languages (instead of one). A multilingual webshop is standard functionality within Shopware. During the development of the integration, everything was made multilingual, both the ERP and the integration to Shopware. It gives Snelpas the opportunity to grow in new (non-Dutch-speaking) markets.
