Ready for the European Accessibility Act (EAA)

From 28 June 2025, online shops within the EU must comply with the European Accessibility Act. This act requires companies to make their digital products - including online shops - accessible to people with disabilities. Read our extensive blog on the EAA.

Shopware 6.7 helps you comply with this law with important improvements in the frontend. Think better support for screen readers, improved keyboard navigation and wider deployment of accessible elements. Do you use a customised theme or specific plugins? Then it's important to check those components for accessibility as well.

Accessibility is no longer a 'nice to have', but a must. Shopware is taking the lead in this - and you, as an online shop, can benefit from this.

Faster frontend with Vite

Another big change is the switch from Webpack to Vite. This ensures much faster build times, shorter development cycles and a much smoother experience for developers. Do you work with customisation or regularly develop your own webshop? Then you will notice this acceleration immediately.

Vue 3 and Pinia in Admin

Shopware's admin environment has now been fully migrated to Vue 3 and Pinia. Vuex, previously used for state management, has been phased out. For developers, this means more modern features and fewer technical limitations. Note, however, that older plugins may need to be modified to remain compatible.

Better caching and higher performance

A lot has also changed under the bonnet. Among other things, Shopware 6.7 introduces asynchronous cache validation, which ensures more stable performance with large amounts of data. In addition, an unnecessary caching layer (the Store API cache) has been removed, improving the speed of your shop.

Important technical updates

Finally, several technical upgrades have been implemented that contribute to the stability and future-proofing of your Shopware installation:

  • Support for PHP 8.2 and Node.js 20+
  • Upgrades of core libraries such as PHPUnit 11, DomPDF and Doctrine DBAL 4
  • Improved error handling and logging for developers

What does this mean for your webshop?

The next "minor" update of Shopware will include the most necessary updates in terms of EAA. An immediate transition to 6.7 is therefore not yet a must, especially as Shopware itself states That the following minor updates will still be covered until 2027.
