The issue

The online platform where Jéh Jewels made use of, was built in 2016 based on a third-party theme. The problem with using such themes is that it is difficult to keep them up-to-date over time. Maintenance was taking more and more time as updates were ‘falling over’ in the theme. Moreover, the design felt dated and was no longer supported by the vendor.

Jéh Jewels was in need of a ‘breath of fresh air’: a platform where speed, a modern look in its own house style and optimal ordering convenience were key. This resulted in a process in which we tackled three key issues:

• Refresh and improve the platform visually and functionally.
• Updating the Magento-version.
• Updating the underlying PHP version for optimal security and stability.

The solution

We started with a thorough analysis of the existing Magento shop, including all customisations and links. Many outdated or unused extensions were removed for a cleaner environment. As the basis for the new shop, we chose the Hyvä Theme.

Working closely with Jéh Jewels, we developed a completely new design that better reflects today's standards. The deployment of Hyvä Commerce dramatically improved front-end speed and a more efficient backend. Another big advantage was the updated Hyvä CMS, which provides a clearer and easier user experience when managing the webshop content.

The result

The use of Hyvä in combination with cleaning up the environment has led to a result we are proud of. Jéh Jewels' new webshop not only looks much sleeker, it has also become many times faster.

On the backend, the structure has been completely overhauled, making the environment future-ready and easier to update. Jéh Jewels now again has a professional platform that perfectly reflects their craftsmanship online.
